Sept 9th, 2015 Saturday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Invasive Blackberry Removal in Lake Boren Park. Gloves provided. Bring shovels, loppers and clipper if you have them. Some tools are provided. Dress for the weather.
Sept. 11th & 12th, 2015 Friday & Saturday: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Newcastle Days. Lake Boren Park Volunteers needed to help at Weed Warrior Nature Stewards booth.
Sept 19th, 2015 Saturday: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Knotweed Workshop 2015 with City of Newcastle and King County Noxious Weed Control Program. Location: Fire Station #9 at 12412 SE Newcastle Way, Newcastle, WA 98056. Park in the back of the fire station. Follow the cement path to the side door to the conference room.

June 6th, Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM National Trails Day Walk 'n Find, “Nuggets of Newcastle.” Discover Newcastle history at historic locations, native plants and non-native noxious weeds, and the important salmon habitat of May Creek as we traverse the canyon down to the creek and back up to Lake Boren Park. Wear sturdy walking shoes. Meet at Lake Boren Park. Entire walk covers approximately 2.5 miles. GPS coordinates for history locations are found at the beginning of the walk. Collect a “Puget Sound Starts Here” pathtag. “Puget Sound Starts Here” swag for walkers.

July 2nd, Thursday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Rain Garden Introduction and Maintenance of local Rain Garden site. This site, located in Burien, is part of the 12,000 Rain Gardens campaign of the Puget Sound Starts Here Program. Meet at the Burien Press coffee shop for orientation, then travel to rain garden site. No transportation provided. Tools and gloves are provided. Dress for the warm weather and bring a refillable water bottle.
